1. What is the best part of being a mom?
Everyday is totally different, and everyday Noah learns something new or has some new insight into the inner workings of the world. Bearing witness to his constant motion and changing, coupled with nursing/cuddling/snuggling sessions of quiet meditation is just so delicious. Sharing that with my husband and reveling in the delight and absurdity and exhaustion and joy is the best.
2. Give us the cliff’s notes version of your birth story.
Noah was born at our home. My water broke around 11am, I was walking in the park and eating and playing until about 8pm when things started to get a little more exciting. After 5 1/2 hours of labor moving around lots between a tub in the “birth cave” we set up in the basement, my kitchen, and our bedroom, Noah was born at 1:25am. Throughout I had the incredible support of my husband, two wonderful midwives, and a chicken soup delivery from my in-laws.
3. How do you find your “me time”?
Wherever I can get it. In the shower, a walk or run in Frick Park. Naps. Yoga, even if it’s for 30 seconds at a time. By writing and blogging- it’s space where it’s just for my thoughts and needs.
4. What’s the last non-baby related book you’ve read?
The last one I loved was When Women Were Birds by Terry Tempest Williams
5. What’s the most useful baby product you have? Why do you love it?
Ergo carrier. We’ve used it non-stop since Noah was big enough to fit in it. It gives us both freedom- I can use my hands and carry him comfortably (still at 32+ pounds!), and he loves being
6. If a newly pregnant mom asked you why she should take classes here, what would you tell her?
Wonderful space, talented and dedicated teachers, and the opportunity to rest, relax, and honor your beautiful body and growing baby! I feel strongly that consistent yoga and prenatal massage during my pregnancy helped me connect with my strength, inner power, and a deep pool of magic within myself while working through my fears and anxiety around pregnancy, birth, and parenting, and helped us have an empowering and peaceful pregnancy, birth experience and start to the parenting journey.
