Organized and Facilitated by Heart and Hands Doula Services, which has been providing support to Pgh area women before, during and after birth since 1995.
Hosted by Shining Light Prenatal Education.
Brittany Edge, MA, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Area Coordinator for Postpartum Support International will be providing an informative discussion on the ways pregnancy and the postpartum period can influence mood in mothers. She will review the numerous mood disorders that mothers are at risk of developing. Brittany will discuss risk factors and preventative measures to take to safeguard the mothers we care about from postpartum depression, anxiety, and psychosis. She will also review the effects on the significant others and the children when mother develops a mood disorder.
Postpartum depression is the #1 complication of pregnancy; it is very common and 100% treatable. Women should be aware of the risks and ways to get the help they need to navigate this often difficult transition period.
Brittany is the mother of two (daughter Riley, 4 and son Julian, 2) and experienced depression and anxiety during both pregnancies and after Julian was born.
Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to Teresa by September 25th at teresadoula@verizon.net.
Please share this event. It is open to the public.
